Delaware: The inexplicable murder of Jane Marie Prichard
In the year of 1986, a New Jersey couple plans an autumn camping trip to Delaware. An expedition to the Blackbird State Forest is in the plan as they arrive at their destination on a balmy Saturday afternoon. After setting up their tent, they decide to explore the woods and go for a walk. While they are at it, the couple stumbles upon the dead body of a woman. The 28-year-old woman is partially clothed and had been killed by a gunshot. Her name is Jane Marie Prichard.
As it later transpired, Jane was conducting botany experiments in the forest when she was shot to death. There were a couple of hunters in the forest on that fateful day but investigators ruled out the possibility of an accidental shooting. Who wanted Prichard dead and why? The investigators were never able to figure it out and the case remains cold to this day.
